Helping all students learn
and grow into educated, engaged citizens is the hallmark of the Tamalpais Union
High School District. We want our
schools, programs, and communities to be focused on this worthy goal, so I have created a brand new advisory council to ensure that a broad
range of Tam District parents are able to discuss and contribute to school
system initiatives. This is an excellent
opportunity for parents to become involved in the district and to have their
voices heard.
The Superintendent’s
Parent Advisory Council will be comprised of parent representatives from each
of the five high schools in the Tamalpais Union High School District. Meetings will be held four times per
year.
Purpose
The Superintendent’s
Parent Advisory Council will provide input on ways to improve communication and
parent engagement at the district and school level. The council will also provide feedback and
advice regarding school system initiatives.
Structure
The council will
be comprised of two parents from each comprehensive high school and one parent
from each of the two alternative schools.
Members will serve on the council for one school year.
Selection Process
To ensure broad
representation, the appointment of members will be made based on a variety of
factors including geographic location of residence and areas of interest and
experience.
Meeting Dates and Location
The meetings have
been scheduled for October 1, January 14, March 4, and May 20, from 7:00 p.m.
to 9:00 p.m. All four meetings will be
held in the District Office’s Kreps Conference Center, which is on the Redwood High
School campus in Larkspur.
Expectations
Council members
will be expected to:
· Attend scheduled
meetings
· Prepare for each
meeting, as needed
· Work in a
collaborative manner with other parents and staff
· Express views
openly, constructively, and respectfully
Process for Interested Parents

interested in serving on the council, please submit a self-nomination
